I had the privilege of attending the Irish American Partnership’s breakfast gathering at Clune Construction here in New York recently to learn about the great work Mary Sugrue and her team are doing to support educational initiatives and community development programmes in Ireland.

I got a real insight into the history, governance, programmes, and activities carried out by the Partnership through a very well delivered presentation by Mary.

Mary detailed the Partnership’s core programmes: direct grants to schools, science education, university access scholarship, job training, and community development, and explained their impact through videos and testimony.

These programmes are having a tremendous impact on communities in Ireland and are greatly appreciated by students, teachers, and parents.

They are regarded not only as a means to upgrade school materials, help disadvantaged students through university, or train unemployed individuals in marketable tech skills—but an affirmation of Irish America’s commitment to Ireland.

Mary also asked I serve on the Host Committee for the April 19, 2019 Business Leaders Breakfast featuring keynote speaker Bernie Brennan, President of the RDS Dublin, held at the Union League Club of New York.
